What you should know about child abuse: Booklet # 1
Introduction:
It has been my privilege over the past several years to speak to public and secondary students in our schools on the subject of child abuse. In every school I have left copies of my book,
“Child of Woe” for the school libraries so that students may read it and understand that there is hope for victims of abuse. My message to students who have been abused is,
you must deal with it now—if you don’t,you will face it later because it will effect everyrelationship in your life. I also emphasis that if they have a friend that
they know has been abused they should be a real friend and offer to go with them to talkto a guidance counselor, teacher, clergymanor another trusted person in the communityso that they start dealing with their abusive past. I have gathered the materials in this booklet
together from a number of sources and out ofmy own experiences as a survivor of child abuseto help make concerned people more aware ofthe part you can play in befriending society’svictims of abuse. Child abuse is everyone’s problem.
Let us do all that we can do to preventit and help those who have experienced it.
