What you should know about child abuse: Booklet # 2
Introduction:We would all agree that home should be a place to belong but sadly, for many childrenthis is not the case. Children all over North Americaare being neglected and abused physically, sexually and emotionally, the abuse is oftencommitted by someone the child knows and trusts. Children must be taught that no one has the right
to touch them in the private areas of their bodyor to say things to them that make themfeel embarrassed or uncomfortable about themselves and their body parts. Parents have the responsibility to teach
and educate their children and make themaware that there are people in our societythat will injure and violate little childrenand that there are certain things they can do to prevent anything ever happening to their children. Many of these offenders have been victims
of abuse themselves and they have neverdealt with the issues of their own abusive past. Our children are vulnerable if we do not
take our responsibility and educate themso they will know how to conductthemselves should they find themselvesin a dangerous or stressful situation. What you should know about child abuse: Children are at risk
